About Alisha

Before becoming a Functional Nutritionist and Holistic Practitioner, I spent over 25 years in traditional healthcare, working in gastroenterology, family medicine, pain management, oncology, and pharmaceutical sales. Helping people has always been my passion, but over time, I began to see the limitations of conventional medicine—especially when it came to chronic health issues, nutrition, and preventative care.

I know firsthand how workplace culture fosters unhealthy habits. In my years working in high-stress medical environments, caffeine and sugar were essential crutches to keep going through long days. Catered lunches full of processed foods, late-night charting, and the pressure to always be “on” made prioritizing nutrition and self-care feel impossible. Like so many others, I fell into the cycle of exhaustion, relying on quick fixes that only led to deeper imbalances in my body.

My own health struggles became impossible to ignore. I battled digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, and fatigue for years, dismissing them as just part of life—until they escalated into something more serious. I ended up needing gallbladder surgery, yet even after that, I still didn’t feel well. Then came one of the most challenging periods of my life: facing infertility, navigating a high-risk pregnancy, and spending countless days in the NICU caring for my preterm baby. The experience was a wake-up call.

Watching my child struggle in those early days, I felt an overwhelming need to dig deeper. I asked questions that conventional medicine couldn’t fully answer. How could I help my son heal? How could I support his nervous system, reduce inflammation, and strengthen his foundation for lifelong health? My research led me to functional nutrition, detoxification, and holistic healing—things I had never been taught in my years of medical training.

As I implemented these changes for my family and myself, I saw incredible transformations. My energy returned, my digestion improved, and my son began to thrive. I realized that true health isn’t just about treating symptoms—it’s about addressing the root causes, nourishing the body, and creating sustainable habits that support long-term vitality.

Functional nutrition showed me a path to wellness that I never knew existed, and now, I’m passionate about helping others discover the same. You have more control over your health than you think. While you can’t change your genes or age, you can change your daily choices—and those choices are what truly shape your health outcomes.

Why functional nutrition?

Nutrition is not just what you eat and supplements you take.  Nutrition encapsulates lifestyle, habits, patterns of behavior, stress, and so much more. Functional nutrition counseling is a more holistic approach to dietary counseling that considers your unique nutritional needs, lifestyle, biochemistry, and environment.

What I do for you…

- Take a progressive approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of health issues (such as genetics, medical history, diet, habits, and environmental factors) rather than treating symptoms.

- Create personalized plans for you based on your needs, likes, dislikes, sensitivities, and lifestyle.

“Prior to working with her, I was sick ALL the time and severely fatigued…Alisha has taught me SO much about nutrition and the body. I gained a friend and health advocate from our work together. Thank you!”

Carmen

“I’d been having digestive issues and wanted to heal my gut. She was able to explain how my anxiety had been affecting my gut and the synergy between the two. She developed a plan specifically for my body and needs…Through Alisha’s program, I was able to reduce anxiety, shed some lost pounds, and gain an understanding of how certain foods affect my mind and body personally. The program was individualized for my issues and I felt in great hands with Alisha every step of the way. It was the best decision for me to have accountability and an advocate for my health.”
